One of Greece's most distinguishing characteristics
is the incredible diversity of the country.
On the one side majestic mountains and highlands such as the Pindus (Greece's "spine"), the Olymp (the highest mountain in the country is the
Pantheon which reaches 2,917 m) and the Thrakien and Macedonian ridge of mountains
scored with valleys in which small rivers emerge.
On the other side a winding ridge, that borders the coast of the mainland. The coast is marked by
thousands of bays lending the countryside its particular beauty and attraction.
